The Mega Drive I From SEGA! New shell, same core!

When Nintendo was still in the 8-bit diaper, the SEGA Mega Drive I hit like a bomb! 850 titles appeared for the black graphics machine, including the popular Sonic the Hedgehog parts and countless grandiose arcade conversions. The 16-bit processor with 7.6 MHz enabled unprecedented graphic splendor and was very compatible with SEGA's arcade boards. It was not for nothing that the English slogan of the console baptized "SEGA Genesis" in America was "Genesis does what Nintendon't". The most successful game with 6 million units sold is the second part of the Sonic series "Sonic the Hedgehog 2", whose hero has been the SEGA mascot ever since. During its lifetime, the SEGA Mega Drive experienced 2 upgrades through the Mega CD and the 32x that contributed the CD functionality and 32-bit graphics. Ultimately, the Mega Drive lost the 16-bit war against Nintendo's Super Nintendo, but it's still considered the "cooler" console and has a firm place in the hearts of retro fans. In Brazil, on the other hand, the SEGA Mega Drive enjoyed great popularity even until 1998. With its slimmer and more modern design, the SEGA Mega Drive II also fits into modern living rooms and does not have to hide from Playstation and Co.
