The SEGA Mega Drive 32X  is plugged into the module slot of the Mega Drive, its audio/video connection is brought to the externally by means of a cable, the output to the television set is made from the SEGA Mega Drive 32X  . This increases the original number of colors from 64 (simultaneously) from 512 to 32,768 colors. Depending on the mode, 256 (1 byte, color palette) or 32,768 (2 bytes, directly addressed) colors can be displayed simultaneously. Two sound channels are also added.
