The GameBoy Advance SP is a 32-bit pocket powerhouse (just 84.6mm long, 82mm wide and 24.3mm thin). The abbreviation SP stands for Special Project. The name already promises a lot of innovations - and rightly so. The Game Boy Advance SPhas a hinged 40.8 x 61.2 mm screen (the screen size corresponds exactly to that of the GameBoy Advance) with a resolution of 240 x 160 pixels, over 32,000 colors that can be displayed simultaneously, as well as integrated lighting and a rechargeable Li-Ion battery , as used in mobile phones. This battery allows more than 10 hours of perfectly lit video games without interruption. When the screen lighting is switched off, the service life is extended to around 18 hours. With the help of the supplied power pack, the GameBoy Advance SP can be operated directly from the socket - even while the battery is being charged. The charging time of the battery is about 3 hours when the device is switched off.

Of course, the GameBoy Advance SP has the same strong features that have made the GameBoy Advance so successful (such as multiplayer fun for up to four players at the same time with the separately available GameBoy Advance Game Link Cable Set).

All GameBoy Advance titles and almost all Game Boy and GameBoy Color titles can also be played on the new system. A special GameBoy Advance SP software has not appeared.

But that's not all: In conjunction with the Nintendo GameCube, to which the GameBoy Advance SP can be connected using the Nintendo GameCube AGB Cable, games are possible that - among other things - allow data to be exchanged between the two systems.
