As expected, Namco is at the forefront of the title selection for the new Sony console. After ''Soul Calibur'' remains a specialty as one of the few Sega outings, two representatives from Namco's reference series have appeared with ''Ridge Racer V'' and ''Tekken''. Namco has a reputation for being an excellent producer of stunning render opening credits. ''Tekken Tag Tournament'' is also presented in this now traditional way. When you look at the intro for the first time, there is almost no difference to a real film. But next to this nicely designed introduction, the game shouldn't take a backseat. The playful difference to ''Tekken 3'' consists mainly in that instead of competing with one fighter, you can now compete with two at the same time. One of the characters waits patiently at the edge of the arena to intervene in the battle if called upon. Something similar has already been seen in ''King of Fighters'' or most recently ''Dead or Alive 2''. This feature spices up the brawls with a pinch of tactics, since you have to adjust more precisely to the quite different abilities of the fighters. The meanwhile common assortment of arcade, versus, team battle and training is offered at game modes. In addition, you can also fight with just one character under the One-on-One menu item. The character selection includes 20 selectable fighters from the start. In total, this number can be increased to 34. Except for the final boss Unknown, only old acquaintances cavort among them. If you have earned 30 figures, there is a small bonus in the Tekken Bowling Game. Basically rather irrelevant, it's a lot of fun because of its simple principle....
